Is copying always plagiarism or is there a gray area? Explain your thoughts. I don't think copying is always plagiarism. With this piece I found a picture and drew the exact thing as the picture I found. It helped me learned to draw a little more and it was a good way to practice. I'm not a very creative person so I needed something to look off. I think it's more plagiarism when people are selling artwork and one replicates it saying it was an original piece. This was just for art class and I didn't want to sell it nor say I came up with idea myself. But when someone claims they design a piece an artist created all on their own and someone else replicates it and sells it saying it's their own then you're taking credit for someone elses art that they created all on their own, then it's not yours truly. I fully give google credit for helping me find a picture, I just needed something to try and draw because I'm not creative at all. What is the point of this class? What did you get out of it? The point of this class was to help students understand the dedication and talent that is behind art. Most people just see the outcome piece and look but people but their hearts and hard work into pieces. Artists express themselves through art which not a lot of people can do. I learned a lot from the various projects like from this piece how the face is as wides as 5 eyes, I would've never put that together. I also learned about the difference between working with different paints like and what each will look like in the end ( glaze versus regular after putting clay art in the kiln). I am not an artistic person but the class pushed me to try new things and I was proud with the things I can do when I try and want a good outcome for my piece!

I ripped tissue paper for the base then cut tissue paper in order to make the leaves. I then used water paint for the center of the flower, I added salt to it looked more like the seeds on a sunflower. I then added a little pop of color by creating a pink paint and creating a splatter paint look. I also added a white pastel to some areas to give a little more texture and experiment with the look. 5/22/2018 0 Comments Water color Perspective

3/26/2018 0 Comments Mentor and brown swatches My mentor is Joseph. His art is more around imaginary and fiction pieces. He tries to do things more off the beaten path. What I can learn from having his as a mentor is having someone I can go to to ask questions or if I get stuck on a piece and not sure where to go to next. Josephpaoliloapex18.weebly.com You make brown by staring with orange and slowly adding blue, for lighter browns add white after.3/22/2018 0 Comments Learning ColorThis activity helped me learn how it isn't that easy to mix colors and you won't always get it right the first time. The more variety of colors you have to mix to get a color can be more difficult, as you can see in the purple samples I was way off, but with the simpler ones, like the orange and green I was a lot closer.
For the rest of the piece I plan to finish painting it red with the cut out parts light blue. I will then paint the lid blue and the nob on top red. The inside of the box will have two sides blue and two sides red. When I first started the clay project it was difficult to turn the big ball of clay into a slab, it was a long process because you never seem to have the right amount for all the sides and the lid. Another problem I has was getting each side to stick to one another, even when I scratched and slipped it didn't want to stick very well. I also had trouble getting the bottom the perfect size ( as you can see it's a little off in the picture). The most successful part so far was carving the designs onto the side. To get to this point in the picture I: made a couple slabs of clay, cut out the pieces, attached the sides together with the scratch and slip idea, cut out the bottom of the box and attached it, cut out the top piece, made two thin clay pieces to put on the bottom of the top piece so the lid wouldn't fall off as well as a small ball on top of the lid so you can easily take the lid off, and then I cut out my design and put it in the kiln to be fired.

The place represented is the view of Jamaica when we first arrived on our cruise. This place is important to me because it is a place I will never forget, it was a gorgeous site filled with so many great people. The most challenging part of my painting was the clouds, some turned out darker than I wanted. The most successful part to this piece I think is the colors of the island itself. I started the piece with the blues (sky then water), I then did the island, the beach, the clouds and finished with doing small details.
