I ripped tissue paper for the base then cut tissue paper in order to make the leaves. I then used water paint for the center of the flower, I added salt to it looked more like the seeds on a sunflower. I then added a little pop of color by creating a pink paint and creating a splatter paint look. I also added a white pastel to some areas to give a little more texture and experiment with the look.

The place represented is the view of Jamaica when we first arrived on our cruise. This place is important to me because it is a place I will never forget, it was a gorgeous site filled with so many great people. The most challenging part of my painting was the clouds, some turned out darker than I wanted. The most successful part to this piece I think is the colors of the island itself. I started the piece with the blues (sky then water), I then did the island, the beach, the clouds and finished with doing small details.
